Garuda has announced a major new aircraft order at the Singapore Airshow this week.

The airline's Chief Executive, Emirsyah Satar, confirmed the order for up to 36 CRJ1000 NextGen regional jets, to serve Garuda's regional and domestic network.

He praised the superior economics, outstanding fuel economy and excellent passenger comfort of the new twin jet, which will become the mainstay of Garuda's future operations from the carriers hub airports at Makassar, Medan and Balikpapan in Indonesia.

Offering 100 seats in a two-class cabin layout, the new fleet will enhance Garuda's full-service strategy. Manufacturer, Bombardier Aerospace, was delighted to participate in the press conference, and confirmed that, if all options are exercised, the sale will be worth in excess of 1.3 billion US Dollars.
