Kendari

The closest attraction to Kendari is Air Terjun Kambu, a waterfall at the foot of Gunung Kambu, a short walk from the University campus. Another waterfall worth visiting is Air Terjun Morame where there is a deep pool at the base of the falls ideal for swimming. Pulau Hari, a tiny island 18km off the Kendari coast, is a nature reserve with white-sand beaches and opportunities for snorkelling, walking and diving.

During WWII Kendari was a Japanese Naval base.
